Walking today

On my walk today I was just walking along when this jet black bird with red and white shoulder patches kept following me. It would fly from tree to the next tree in front of me and sing its song. It was very unusual and funny, I wish I had a camera with me. Also I found some blackberries almost a handful, I’ll have to go back in a few days to check.

current projects

So over the past month or so I’ve been busy. Started an afghan project, started going to the gym again and jogging, found my old calligraphy kit, drew more Zentangles, and I’ve been baby siting my cousin for more than 60 hours a week, last week was about 80 hours. Helped garden at both my moms house and my grandmas, now I want to start my own. I’ve even found time to read a book, and go to the library. So much to do still.


Day 6 letters : A stranger

I met you, you were homeless I’m sorry that I couldn’t help more. I gave you some advice that I knew you wouldn’t take. I worried for you and others like you for a while after. I realize that you cant make people get help unless they want it. You have to want to change to change. Hope you are in better climate like you wanted.


Day 5 letters : Dreams

I have many dreams, to accomplish them I need time, money, more education, and to move. I know this. Why I have trouble achieving these things that are necessary to achieving them? Procrastination and inertia.


Oil treatment day 2

This time I used 1/3 cup of coconut oil and 2/3 cups of olive. I shampooed and conditioned as usual, I have waist length hair so people with shorter hair might use less. My hair came out good but a little oily so a 1:2 ratio is too much and a 1:1 is too drying I will have to experiment more. I try to do a oil treatment once a week as more often than that is not good for my hair. I think that the next time I will use a 2:3 ratio of coconut to olive oil.


Zentangles c-chain

picture091I’m working on these doodles called Zentangles I know it was popular some time ago, there are a lot of patterns out there, I’m trying to get one pattern down then do various variations of it. They might seem like the doodles I did back in school but there’s something different knowing that there is a whole community of people out there doing something similar. I like seeing what others do with them.

Here’s my first c-chain and some variations:

 


dinner : roasted brussel sprouts

Tonight I took 1 lb frozen sprouts tossed them with olive oil an garlic salt. Sprinkled red pepper flakes and sea salt. They were roasted ay 375 F for 30 min, came out a little too much cooked. I ate them anyway next time I’ll only put them in for 25. Together with leftover spiral cut ham not a bad meal. Needs something though.


Poem 2 sunlight

Far away the shining globe burns. I walk in the outside air, I feel the wind. Trees stretch their cold branches up to its warmth. Hope is signaled by small leaves. Soon it will be warm again, soon growth and warmth and light.


Oil treatment-day 1

So I bought this coconut oil in a jar a few weeks ago with the thought that I could make home beauty products out of it. I have used it straight out of the jar to clean my face. It works well but does leave my skin a little dry. So this time I used half coconut and half olive oil. My skin is less dry but I will have to see if the pimples come back. Its a little embarrassing being 29 and having pimples but hopefully this will do the trick.

I used the leftover oil to treat my hair. Using only olive oil leaves my hair too greasy so I thought this would work. I used my standard shampoo and conditioner after the hour long oil treatment, to deep condition my hair I just dipped my fingers in and ran it through my hair till it was wet. The coconut has a lovely smell and seems too greasy at first. I was worried as when I got out after the shower my hair seemed a very dry. I know from experience that my hair lies when wet, it likes to look awful then turn nice when dry. So far it is soft and light weight.


Homemade mac and cheese

Ingredients:

16 oz macaroni noodles

pinch of salt

1/2 stick velveta cheese

1/2 cup milk/or creme

1 pad butter

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

boil a large pot of water, add a pinch of salt. When boiled boil noodles according to directions on package. Meanwhile warm up milk, butter in a smaller pot. Add cheeses when hot, dont let boil. when noodles are done drain noodles and put back into same pot, add milk and cheese mixture and let set for a few minutes. You can also bake the noodles and milk mixture in the oven
